Preparing Your Home for Photography
To make sure your property shines on camera, here are some handy suggestions to help it look its best before the shoot:
General Tips
Open all curtains and blinds to let in natural light
Make sure all lights are working
Clean windows, mirrors, and reflective surfaces
Keep styling simple — clear away unnecessary items to create a clean, uncluttered look
Wipe down benches and polish taps
Remove any visible cobwebs
Arrange chairs neatly or at your preferred angles
Outdoor Areas
Place cushions on outdoor furniture and remove any protective covers (including BBQs)
Sweep or blow leaves off verandahs, decks, and patios
Mow lawns, tidy up garden beds, and remove weeds
Move bins out of sight
Remove cars from driveways unless you'd like them in the photos
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
Make beds neatly and use matching pillowcases
In bathrooms, consider adding fresh towels, plants, soap, or flowers for a welcoming touch
Styling Suggestions (optional but effective)
A few small touches can make a big impact. Here are some ideas:
A bowl of fresh fruit on the kitchen bench or dining table
Coffee table books or magazines
A bottle of wine with glasses
A throw blanket and some cushions to add warmth and colour
A book and a coffee mug placed casually
Taking care of these details ahead of time means I can focus on capturing your property in the most flattering way possible, without needing to move or tidy things during the session. If you’re unsure about anything or need a hand with the setup, feel free to reach out — happy to help!
